From Hong Kong to London: Music for Sanctuary
This young family moved to London from Hong Kong. The family is seeking sanctuary after being forced to leave their homeland due to interference from the Chinese state. The family moved to London during the Covid-19 pandemic which has been very challenging. One of the ways that some families coped with this new reality was through music. Playing music at churches on Sundays and other public landmarks has been a common practice among those exiled in the UK. This piece was filmed at St Pancras train station in December 2021.
