Newroz is a major celebration for many Kurds. Last year (2020) people were unable to come together to celebrate the Newroz. This year (2021) also many people were unable to celebrate the Nerwoz due to Covid-19 and lockdown. Adnan S recorded this video from his house in Glasgow to mark this occasion. Newroz is about hope and end of injustice and so is this musical piece. The language is Kurdish Kurmanci. The hope is that life will soon return to normal and people will be able to resume their lives.

Newroz is the Kurdish celebration of new year. Kurdish Newroz coincides with the Spring Equinox, and is a festival celebrating the beginning of spring. Over the years, Newroz has come to represent new beginnings, hope, as well as an opportunity to support the Kurdish cause.
