A lovely story from an asylum-seeking woman, relatively new in the area who received so much support from her midwife. We hear so many negative stories these days about the pandemic and health care, but there are some amazing people working in the NHS who go the extra mile to help others. This story is a tribute to all the medical professionals who are supporting sanctuary seekers.

Note: This digital story, created by project researcher Thanuja has been viewed widely across the NHS and feedback from health staff suggests that it has been very successful in encouraging staff to pay attention to the care needs of asylum-seekers. Well done to Thanuja who has demonstrated that sometimes positive stories help trigger change more than negative stories that might put people on the defensive.
