This is a line drawing by a 13 year old Ukrainian girl called Sophia  Khorolska. It won a drawing competition in November 2022. The organiser and judge of the competition - artist Irina Kvasha - asks us to look closely at how much of Ukraine's history has been covered by such a young person.  It is a stunning drawing and visual design.

When the drawing was posted on Irina's Facebook page it attracted 250 likes and dozens of comments such as

"Through a child's eye, Ukraine's history"

"Inspiring - how our young people show their creative talents and abilities in our conditions of war!"

"The history of Ukraine in one picture"

"Gives us hope for future generations"

"Deep, spiritual and heartbreaking".

This material is part of the Covid Chronicles from the Margins project, funded by The Open University and the International Institute of Social Studies in the Hague. The project aims to highlight the impact of the pandemic on refugees, asylum seekers and undocumented migrants.
