Transparency, a myth in Guyana’s public procurement system?

dataset
posted on 2024-09-05, 11:09 authored by Tiffany AdamsTiffany Adams

Given the prevalence of accusations of corruption in Guyana’s public procurement process, this research aims to investigate if Guyana’s public procurement system is capable of promoting transparent public procurement processes. Hence, this research answers the following questions:

  • To what extent does Guyana’s public procurement system promote transparency?
  • Why existing public procurement transparency provisions may not have an effect on corruption in Guyana?
  • What can be done to enhance public procurement transparency in Guyana?

A socio-legal approach was undertaken with doctrinal analysis and semi-structured interviews of two Guyanese public servants being undertaken. This project commenced November 2023 and solely undertaken by the Principal Investigator-Tiffany Adams

The dataset generated are edited anonymised transcripts of interviews conducted online with Guyanese public servants
