This dataset contains simulation output of the mesoscale atmospheric state at two craters on Mars under current climatic conditions using the Mars Mesoscale Model (MMM) at the Open University. The dataset in this project is used to propose a quantitative definition of a microenvironment based on modelling the atmosphere within and surrounding two deep craters on Mars, Lyot and Kaiser. The term ‘microenvironment’ is frequently used to describe a small region, often isolated by local variations in topographic or thermal surface properties, yet there is no commonly accepted definition of the term.
Further details on this dataset can be found in the Martian-microenvironments-reference-manual.pdf document.
