Although research on menopause as a workplace issue has been growing at a relatively rapid pace over the last decade or so, we know almost nothing about the menopausal experiences of transgender and non-binary people in the context of paid employment. There is more and more emphasis on understanding workplace experiences of menopause as very varied, and in particular as affected by differences like race, ethnicity, gender, disability and neurodiversity. Equally best workplace practice dictates that initiatives including policies, awareness raising and training, should fully acknowledge these variations, including gender. So there is a pressing need for research to focus on transgender and non-binary employees, which is what this project is intended to do.
