The research will investigate experiences of audiences in response to performances led by refugee artists who will share creatively their own stories of migration. The main research question is: How does participation in the performance impact on the affects and the politics of the audience?

The performances will take place in Lesvos, Greece and in London, UK. The project documents and analyses data obtained from public audiences investigating the affects, reflections and political acts instigated in response to their attendance of the performances. 10 interviews will be conducted with members of the audience which will be transcribed and analysed. The analysis of the new data will provide important insights regarding the political impact of creative methods.

The project is interdisciplinary crossing the disciplines of Geography, Sociology and Psychology. Currently located in the Geography department, it builds on my PhD research that was undertaken in Sociology (Open University) which documented, analysed and amplified how young people (refugees, asylum seekers and locals) negotiate bordering, belonging and citizenship processes in Lesvos, Greece through a series of interviews, a creative online group and a series of performances.
