The overarching aim of the study is twofold. The first aim is to examine the prevalence of emotional manipulation among instructors and administrators. The second aim is to classify the types of manipulation strategies used. We hypothesize that in institutions with secure assessment protocols, cheating becomes difficult, and as a result, social strategies are employed to improve grades. The study poses one research question: How common is emotional manipulation as a strategy for increasing grades?
